Historically dating back hundreds of years, the definition of Kilim is a fabric meant to cover and preserve an expensive Hand Knotted Persian rug. The more expensive the hand knotted rug the more intricate and colorful was the Kilim. Kilims started as a fabric then later became the layman's rug. Now Kilims have become a fashion statement. Since these rugs and technique of making have been around for so long, they are considered a classic, just like the famous Flokati rug. In this country there is resurgence of this flat weave reversible masterpiece.
Jute is used because this fiber ability to be easily stained and enables us to obtained this unique antique look.
